One of the joys of summer is being able to get outside and paint on a sunny day. I love grabbing my paints and brushes and heading out to the surroundings fields and coastline. This little painting was made looking across a lovely green field full of sunlight and and white billowy clouds racing overhead across a clear blue sky. The painting was made in one sitting and has areas of the brown board coming in around the edges. I love this spontaneity that painting outside brings to the finished work. It feels fresh and full of energy, like a sketch or study, rather than a more layered, finished studio painting
